• Positive: Overall we had an amazing experience while staying 4 nights at the Hotel Preciados in April 2013. From when we first stepped in the door and were greeted warmly until the moment we left at 3:45am on a Sunday morning the staff was helpful without pause. The location is great. One block off of the Gran Via, and just a few hundred meters away from the Royal Palace it is located very close to some quick things to do when you arrive. Within a 15 minute walk you can reach most of the Plaza's on your list; Sol, Mayor, Santa Ana and more. You can walk to the Prado in less than 30 minutes. We walked everywhere during our stay and the hotel is perfectly bracketed in the west by the Royal Palace and the east by the Retiro Park. Perfect. The rooms are very modern and clean. The bathroom was all glass and had a super nice rainfall showerhead and very good water pressure. The bedroom was perfect size. And the best part. You minibar is free, yes 100% free. While it isn't fully stocked with mini bottles and cashews. It does have two bottles each of water, coke, diet coke, orange juice and beer. It will be restocked each day. Very nice touch. The night before we left because of our early flight we requested a taxi at 3:45am, and sure enough the hotel had someone waiting right outside the door at the appointed time. I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to everyone.

• Location: 10 Is within 1 mile of walking(not the crow flying by the way) of every top tourist item on our list.

• Staff: 10 Very Friendly and most spoke English fluently. Never felt uncomfortable that I wasn't being understood.
• Quietness: 10 We had an interior room, so I can speak for the rooms that overlook the street. But when I did open and close the window, I could tell they were built of a quality that would block out sound. What level would depend on what was going on of course.
• Room: 10 We had a Standard room. It was very room and had all the space we needed for our luggage and changing our clothes. Had an amazing bathroom, close with hangers, a safe(free). We had an internal room, so there was no view.
• Value for money: 10 I think the for the price I paid it was a very good value. I didn't have to pay for a single taxi ride in the 4 days we were in Madrid. The quality of the rooms was at the level of the cost I spent. You just have to understand the European rooms are smaller in size generally than the US(I'm American if you didn't guess by now)
