• Negative: absolutely everything - They ruined my wifes 40th birthday and did not care at all. If you do anything in Barcelona make sure you avoid this Hotel at all costs. The Hotel accross the Road called 1898 is superb.

• Cleanliness: 2.5 There was a smell in the corridors going to our suite. When we got to the suite we found floor filthy the bathroom had rusty fittings and cracked tyles and the furniture was chipped. My wife was trying to celebrate her 40th birthday and was quite upset as it was our first time in Barcelona.

• Quietness: Not rated They were carrying out extensive renovation works which were incredibly noisy and again which the hotel apologised for in the room and I qoute " we are sorry if the room is not up to standard but we are trying to bring le meridian up to international 5 star quality" this card was mounted on a teddy bear on the dressing table.
• Room: Not rated Very odd shape and not really worth the €475 per night. We actuually were charged €545 and the hotel refused to refund the difference and really didn%27t care.
• Value for money: Not rated We decided to leave the hotel and were told that we would not be charged for our stay but I was charged the same afternoon on my credit card. My visa provider phoned me to tell me that my credit card had been security breached and I had to cancel the card. I only used it in the hotel???????

• Staff: 10 All staff we encountered were exterely efficient and courteous. I would like to congratulate you.
• Quietness: 7.5 If you look beyond the refurbishment work it was quieter than expected
• Room: 10 Wonderful room and facilities, the terrace was excellent except for being overlooked by the hotel 1898 pool area
• Value for money: 7.5 slightly expensive but overall not to bad
